Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha took part in Prime Minister Edi Rama’s meeting and discussion with the Albanian community in Michigan, United States of America.
In a post on X, the Minister described the meeting as an open and direct discussion about Albania.
Hoxha stressed that Albania will soon open a Consulate General in Detroit, bringing the state closer to its citizens by providing better consular services, greater interaction and support, as well as stronger economic and trade ties with local and state stakeholders and authorities, in support of Albania’s national interests.
“An excellent welcome and a warm meeting between Prime Minister Rama and Albanians in Michigan, where one of the great hearts of the Albanian community beats strongly, home to one of the largest Albanian-American communities, well integrated and deeply rooted in American life, yet always closely connected to the homeland.

Albania will soon open a Consulate General in Detroit, bringing the state closer to its citizens by providing better consular services, greater interaction and support, as well as stronger economic and trade ties with local and state stakeholders and authorities, in support of our national interests.
We are committed and will do everything possible to ensure that our public services are close to Albanians wherever they are needed, and are as functional and efficient as possible.
Because wherever Albanians are, Albania is there too. The Albanian state must also be there: close to them, serving them and standing by their side, to preserve, teach, develop and pass on the Albanian language, to preserve our identity, to proudly display the red and black colours, and to pass down from generation to generation the pride in our roots.
Because distance does not weaken the bond with the homeland: Albanians, wherever they live, are part of the same history, the same language and the same heart,” Hoxha wrote.
