Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha met European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos in Dublin on Thursday. Hoxha held the meeting on the sidelines of the General Affairs Council, which is taking place in Dublin.
“It was a pleasure to meet and discuss with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos on the sidelines of the General Affairs Council in Dublin,” Hoxha wrote on X.
He stressed that Albania will use every opportunity to promote its progress in the EU enlargement process.
“We will never miss an opportunity to be present wherever enlargement is discussed and to present Albania’s model,” Hoxha said. “Wherever enlargement is on the agenda, Marta Kos is there to move the process forward.”
Meanwhile, Hoxha and Kos discussed the current dynamics of Albania’s accession process and its future prospects. They also focused on the need to maintain the pace and momentum of the negotiations.
Albania has set a clear objective for 2026. The country aims to advance decisively and close as many negotiating chapters as possible this year. At the same time, the government will continue implementing reforms and meeting its commitments under the accession process.
“We remain fully focused on the work ahead and determined to maintain the pace of the negotiations,” Hoxha said.
Furthermore, the minister emphasized that EU enlargement depends on merit, momentum and results.
“Enlargement is about merit, momentum and results. Albania is ready for all three,” Hoxha said.
