Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias held a two-hour meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday.
According to reports, the discussions focused, among other issues, on restarting dialogue over maritime zones and the continental shelf, a process that has remained stalled for years.
In a post on X, Dendias stated that during his meeting with the Albanian prime minister, he had the opportunity to speak about Himarë, the place he says he originates from. He also emphasized that the Greek ethnic minority is a bridge of friendship between the two states and peoples.
“I was received by the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, in the context of my visit to Tirana. We analyzed the broader geopolitical situation in our wider region. I had the opportunity to speak about Himara, the town from which I believe I originate, and to reiterate my position that the Greek ethnic minority is a bridge of friendship between the two states and the two peoples,” Dendias stated.
