Economy Minister Delina Ibrahimaj said the government remains focused on reforms and Albania’s European Union integration process.
Speaking after a government meeting, Ibrahimaj answered questions about an ongoing protest that has entered its 26th day.
She said the government approved many important acts during the meeting. According to Ibrahimaj, Albania is working under a demanding timetable to meet EU requirements.
“We are competing with ourselves to bring Albania into the European Union. We must approve a large number of legal acts by 2027. The government and public administration are working every day and every night to achieve this goal,” she said.
Ibrahimaj also commented on the protest taking place outside the Prime Minister’s Office.
“Some citizens are protesting loudly while I am speaking. However, 850,000 citizens voted for the Socialist Party and Prime Minister Edi Rama to lead the country,” she stated.
Meanwhile, a group of protesters gathered outside the government building. They used vuvuzelas and called on Prime Minister Edi Rama to resign.
