The cost of imported products recorded a slight decline during the second quarter of the year, while domestic production prices continued to rise. Data from INSTAT show that in the second quarter, the Import Price Index reached 107.5 points, marking an annual decrease of 0.1%.
The decline in prices was mainly driven by electricity, gas and air conditioning, which fell by 2.2%, while prices in the mining and quarrying industry decreased by 0.2%. The manufacturing industry also recorded a minimal decline.
On a quarterly basis, import prices remained almost unchanged.
Meanwhile, the situation was different for domestic production costs.
The Producer Price Index reached 130 points, increasing by 0.1% compared with the second quarter of 2025.
The largest increase, at 0.4%, was recorded in the manufacturing industry and the water supply sector.
Within the manufacturing industry, prices of plastic products and food products increased by 1.5%.
For the domestic market, producer prices rose by 0.3% year-on-year, while export prices decreased by 0.3%.
Compared with the first quarter of the year, producer prices increased by 0.1%.
