Interior Ministry Discusses Stronger Firefighting Capacities in Albania

Albanian institutions and international partners met today to discuss strengthening the country’s firefighting service and emergency response system.

The meeting took place at the Ministry of Interior and focused on funding opportunities through a potential World Bank project.

Deputy Interior Minister Xhemal Qefalia welcomed participants, while Arben Cara led the conference.

Representatives from several Albanian ministries and institutions attended the meeting. Participants also included the OSCE, UNDP, the European Commission and the Swiss Embassy.

Discussions focused on improving disaster risk management and standardizing emergency response systems.

Officials also discussed international funding opportunities and stronger institutional coordination to improve preparedness and response to emergencies.

Participants described the conference as another important step toward building a modern, coordinated and more effective civil protection system in Albania.
