“Islands”: Albania rises on tourism map as Ksamil draws Caribbean comparisons

TIRANA, April 9 – Albania is gaining attention as a beach destination in Europe. An article in the U.S. travel magazine Islands highlights the coastal village of Ksamil as a rising hotspot.

The report asks which European destination offers Caribbean-style beaches at lower cost in 2026. It points to Albania’s southern coast as a strong contender. Ksamil, in particular, stands out for its clear waters and island setting.

The comparison with the Caribbean comes from geography and atmosphere. Ksamil features small offshore islands, calm Ionian waters, and long sunny summers. Visitors often note similarities with destinations such as Antigua.

The article also highlights affordability. Albania ranks among the most budget-friendly beach destinations in Europe. The Albanian Riviera offers accessible travel options for visitors with limited budgets.

Ksamil lies about 25 minutes from Saranda, a coastal city with regular ferry links to Corfu. Travelers can reach Albania via Tirana, then continue by road to the south.

Several beaches attract visitors. Bora Bora Beach offers access to small nearby islands. Paradise Beach provides shallow waters and beach bars. Mirror Beach, located about 6.5 kilometers away, stands out for its clear water and reflective light effects.

A recent study by travel agency CV Villas, in cooperation with Albania’s National Tourism Agency, ranked Mirror Beach among locations with the clearest blue waters. The ranking used image analysis from Google Maps across 200 beaches.
