Italian media “The Wom Travel” names Albanian Riviera among Europe’s most authentic destinations

Italian travel magazine “The Wom Travel” has ranked Albania among the 10 most authentic and least crowded destinations in Europe for summer 2026, highlighting the country’s untouched nature, cultural heritage and affordable travel options.

According to the publication, Albania has strengthened its position on Europe’s tourism map by offering visitors a unique combination of crystal-clear beaches, traditional hospitality and rich cultural experiences.

In particular, the Albanian Riviera has gained recognition as one of the Mediterranean’s emerging gems. Stretching along the Ionian coast, the Riviera attracts visitors with hidden bays, spectacular landscapes and turquoise waters.

Moreover, the magazine describes Albania as an attractive alternative for travelers who want to avoid overcrowded destinations and experience a more authentic summer holiday. It also highlights that prices remain more affordable compared with many other European coastal destinations.

The article features several key destinations along the Albanian coast. Durrës stands out as a lively city popular among young visitors, while Vlora receives praise for its stunning bay and natural attractions, including Gjipe Beach, known for its untouched beauty.

Meanwhile, the magazine highlights Saranda as the heart of the Albanian Riviera, where beach tourism combines with cultural exploration. Nearby, visitors can discover Ksamil’s small islands and crystal-clear waters, as well as the ancient city of Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In addition, the publication recommends lesser-known destinations such as Krorez and Kakome beaches, which remain accessible mainly by sea and preserve their natural landscapes. The historic village of Qeparo also receives attention for its traditional stone houses, many of which are being restored and transformed into boutique accommodations.

Overall, “The Wom Travel” presents Albania as a rising European destination that offers authentic experiences, natural beauty and a balance between tourism development and cultural preservation.
