Minister of Environment Sofjan Jaupaj met today with Dame Dimitrovski, adviser to the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, and Raimund Jehle during the regional conference United for Climate.
During the meeting, Jaupaj discussed a regional forestry initiative supported by the Green Climate Fund and the Food and Agriculture Organization.
Furthermore, the initiative aims to restore forests, improve modern land monitoring systems, and strengthen wildfire risk management across the region.
At the same time, the project seeks to boost the capacities of Western Balkan countries to respond more effectively to climate change.
According to Jaupaj, the initiative includes a planned investment of 50 million dollars for the regional forestry sector.
Moreover, the investment aims to increase environmental sustainability and ensure the long-term protection of forest ecosystems in the Western Balkans.
During the discussions, participants stressed that regional cooperation remains essential for building a safer, more sustainable, and more climate-resilient Western Balkans.
They also highlighted the importance of bringing the region closer to European standards in climate and environmental policies.
