Justice Minister Toni Gogu has reacted following an incident in which flames reached the Supreme Court, while reports indicated that the entrance to the Bank of Albania was also damaged.
“Two independent institutions. Neither is a government office. Both serve the country and its citizens,” Gogu stressed.
The minister condemned the acts of violence, drawing a clear distinction between protesting and damaging institutions.
“Both those who protest and those who are angry with the government have the same right to justice. Protest is a right. Violence is not protest,” he said.
Gogu thanked firefighters, expressed solidarity with the judges and staff of the Supreme Court, and confirmed the Ministry of Justice’s readiness to provide support within its legal powers, while respecting judicial independence.
“People should not have to pay the price of violence. The door to justice must remain open to everyone,” the minister concluded.
