Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu shared images of Berat as the historic city celebrates the 18th anniversary of its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Through a social media post accompanied by the song “Gurët e sokakut”, Koçiu highlighted Berat’s unique features, including its cobblestone streets, religious coexistence, Onufri’s iconic red colour and the majestic castle.
“With its thousand-year history, unique architecture and extraordinary cultural values, the city of one thousand windows represents a symbol of our national identity, centuries-old coexistence and the heritage we have a duty to pass on to future generations,” Koçiu wrote.
She added that Berat has become one of Albania’s most important tourist destinations, welcoming an increasing number of visitors every year and creating new opportunities for local economic development.
