TIRANA, August 31 – Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has called for stronger cooperation between central institutions and municipalities to address the needs of minority communities in Kosova. Kurti made the call at a meeting with heads of municipal offices for communities and return.
Kurti said challenges vary among communities and municipalities. He stressed that local offices play an important role because many issues arise at the local level. These include education, employment, public services, language rights, healthcare, social protection, housing and infrastructure.
Kosova’s acting prime minister said authorities need both general measures and solutions tailored to local needs. He also called for better information-sharing between municipalities and central institutions. Clear responsibilities, regular coordination and better data management would help authorities follow up on local problems.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister for Minority Affairs and Cooperation Fikrim Damka said municipal community offices should do more than identify problems. He said they should direct cases to the responsible institutions and follow them until authorities address them.
Damka also stressed that citizens should receive equal access to rights and public services regardless of the municipality where they live. He called for stronger coordination between local and central authorities and more effective community offices.
