Kosova acting president Haxhiu discusses NATO membership with Admiral Wikoff

TIRANA, July 28 – Kosova Acting President Albulena Haxhiu met Admiral George Wikoff, commander of the NATO Allied Joint Force Command Naples. The officials discussed the security situation in Kosova, cooperation with the Kosova Force, and coordination with NATO.

According to a social media statement, Haxhiu thanked Admiral Wikoff for his commitment and for the Kosova Force’s role in safeguarding security and freedom of movement for all citizens. She also said Kosova’s Euro-Atlantic orientation remains irreversible. In addition, she described NATO membership as the country’s strategic objective.

Meanwhile, Admiral Wikoff also met Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

According to Kurti, the meeting followed their first discussion in January. He received Admiral Wikoff at the Prime Minister’s Office, where Kosova Force Commander Major General Ozkan Ulutas also joined the talks.

Kurti expressed gratitude for NATO’s commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens and communities. He also thanked the Alliance for its continued contribution to lasting peace and long-term stability in Kosova and across the Western Balkans.

Finally, Kurti said he and Admiral Wikoff discussed the security situation and cooperation between Kosova’s institutions and NATO.
