Kosova elections on 7 June; deadline closes at CEC, 22 parties in race and three coalitions registered

TIRANA, May 8 – The deadline for political parties in Kosova to notify the Central Election Commission (CEC) on participation or non-participation in elections and coalition formation closed at midnight. The obligation applied to 53 political parties registered in Kosova.

The CEC said it received notifications from 22 parties for participation in the elections. Nine parties informed the commission that they will not participate. Three coalitions also registered. They include nine political parties in total. The notification process differs from certification applications and candidate list submissions.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi said the application period for certification of new political entities started on 2 May and will end on 10 May. He said this process covers coalitions, civic initiatives, and independent candidates.

He added that political parties are automatically certified under the Law on General Elections and that certification applies only to new political entities.
Separately, the submission of candidate lists for MPs started on 2 May. It will continue until 12 May 2026. This process includes parties, coalitions, civic initiatives, and independent candidates.
