Kosova interim president begins consultations on early parliamentary election date

TIRANA, April 30 – Kosova interim president Albulena Haxhiu starts consultations with political parties on Wednesday (30 April) to set the date for early parliamentary elections. She schedules the meeting for 15:00 as part of efforts to reach agreement on a date acceptable to all parties.

A day earlier, Haxhiu meets Central Election Commission Chair Kreshnik Radoniqi, who says 7 June offers the most suitable option for organising the elections. He also refers to positions from the Constitutional Court of Kosova, which allows two possible dates, 31 May or 7 June.

Radoniqi supports 7 June as the preferred option and leaves the final decision to the interim president after consultations. He also stresses the need for sufficient preparation time and says the election budget will remain similar to previous electoral cycles.
