Kosova’s PM Kurti said country needed parliament and signaled cooperation with opposition parties

TIRANA, June 8 – Albin Kurti, the candidate for prime minister of the Self-Determination Movement, said on June 7 that he was ready to cooperate with other political parties after claiming victory in Kosova’s elections.

Speaking to supporters at Prishtina’s “Skanderbeg” Square, Kurti called for the swift formation of a functioning parliament and said his government would also address the issue of the presidency. Meanwhile, he criticized opposition parties, arguing that they had blocked institutional processes.

In addition, he expressed confidence that the 11th legislature would be constituted once the election results were certified. He added that his party would engage in talks with all political forces in the coming weeks to ensure institutional stability.

At the same time, Kurti said voters had given Self-Determination a mandate for governance and that state institutions remained secure. Meanwhile, he stressed that cooperation across the political spectrum would be necessary in the period ahead.

Earlier, he pointed to what he described as strong electoral results for Self-Determinationin recent years, including parliamentary wins in 2019, 2021 and multiple votes in 2025 and 2026. As a result, he said the party had maintained consistent public support despite political competition.

He concluded that dialogue and cooperation would guide the next phase of governance, framing it as essential for Kosova’s institutional stability.
