Albulena Haxhiu stated that Kosovo’s path toward the European Union is a strategic state interest and a democratic choice of its citizens.
She made the remarks during a meeting in Prishtina with European Council President António Costa, where they discussed Kosovo’s EU integration process, the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, and regional stability.
Furthermore, Haxhiu emphasized that Kosovo’s European integration should be advanced as a priority. She also highlighted the importance of moving the process forward, noting that Kosovo is currently the only country in the region without candidate status.
In addition, she described the EU Growth Plan as a concrete opportunity for development, closer integration with the European single market, and direct benefits for citizens.
Meanwhile, Costa encouraged Kosovo’s political leaders to focus on EU integration and implement necessary reforms. He stressed the importance of strong and stable institutions capable of fulfilling commitments from the EU dialogue process.
Moreover, he reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to the Western Balkans, stating that enlargement remains a real possibility and that now is the time to deliver results.
Finally, Costa’s regional tour includes visits across several Western Balkan countries, where discussions focus on stability, reforms, and the EU enlargement agenda.
