The Kosovo Security Force (KSF) has received 12 new Mercedes-Benz Unimog 5T military trucks, adding to its military fleet alongside eight Rheinmetall KX 8×8 trucks that arrived several days earlier.
In a Facebook post, Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced that the total number of trucks in these two categories has now reached 35 vehicles, with dozens more expected to arrive in 2027.
“Today, 12 Mercedes-Benz Unimog 5T 4×4 military trucks were added to the existing fleet of 15 Rheinmetall trucks. Several days ago, another eight KX 8×8 trucks purchased from Rheinmetall also arrived. With these new deliveries, the total number of trucks in these two categories has reached 35 vehicles. Dozens more Unimog and Rheinmetall trucks have already been purchased and are expected to arrive in 2027.
The Unimog 5T trucks are designed to provide mobility across difficult terrain, including unpaved roads and mountainous areas, while the Rheinmetall trucks, with their 8×8 configuration, enhance the KSF’s transport capabilities and strengthen logistical support.
A modern force is built not only through weapons and military equipment, but also through the capabilities that enable it to move, maintain supplies and operate efficiently. These investments are part of our commitment to strengthening the defense capabilities of the Republic of Kosovo, in line with NATO standards, with the aim of ensuring the security of our country and all our citizens.
Last Friday, 515 new recruits took their oath, another 209 recruits began training at the start of this week, and we are concluding the week with the delivery of 12 military trucks,” Kurti wrote.
