Kurti: Kosovo Security Force members should take part in NATO exercises

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, hosted a meeting with Charlotte Hallengren, NATO’s Director for Operations.

During the meeting, Kurti expressed gratitude for NATO’s commitment to maintaining peace, security, and stability, as well as for the important role of the NATO Advisory and Liaison Team (NALT), a key advisory and coordination mechanism within Kosovo’s Ministry of Defence.

As part of efforts to deepen cooperation, he highlighted opportunities for the professional advancement of members of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) through military training and educational programs within NATO institutions. He also underlined the importance of increasing KSF capacities in line with the alliance’s standards.

Kurti praised the high performance of the KSF in international missions, mentioning deployments in Kuwait, Belize, the Falkland Islands, and Turkey. He noted that the KSF is preparing to participate in a mission in Gaza as part of an international stabilization force. He also emphasized Kosovo’s contribution to training Ukrainian personnel in demining and search-and-rescue operations.

In conclusion, Kurti reaffirmed Kosovo’s commitment to integration into NATO.

For her part, Hallengren thanked Kurti for the close cooperation and coordination, also welcoming the decision to deploy KSF personnel in the stabilization mission in Gaza.
