Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti met today with Antero Lopes, the new head of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX).
Kurti congratulated Lopes on his new position and wished him success during his mandate.
The two officials discussed EULEX’s continued monitoring of Kosovo’s justice institutions and its support for strengthening the rule of law.
They also discussed institutional responses to domestic and gender-based violence. Kurti highlighted the need for police, prosecutors, courts and other institutions to respond quickly and coordinate their efforts, with a focus on protecting victims.
The meeting also focused on Kosovo’s security situation and cooperation between Kosovo’s institutions, EULEX and international partners.
Kurti stressed the importance of regular coordination, information sharing and greater attention to security risks, including the protection of critical infrastructure.
Kurti reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening rule-of-law institutions and said Kosovo remains ready to maintain close and constructive cooperation with EULEX during Lopes’ mandate.
