Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti held a meeting this Thursday with Swiss MP-elect of Albanian origin, Arbër Bullakaj, who is expected to begin his mandate at the end of this month.
During the meeting, Kurti congratulated him on his election to the Swiss Federal Parliament. Bullakaj becomes the second person from Kosovo to win a mandate, following Islam Alijaj.
Originally from Suhareka and having moved to Switzerland in the 1990s, Bullakaj has been active in Swiss politics for more than 20 years.
He is a member of the federal council of the Social Democratic Party (SP), president of SP Migrants in the canton of St. Gallen, and chairman of the Committee of the Democratic Initiative for the reform of Swiss citizenship.
This initiative gathered more than 100,000 valid signatures and was submitted to parliament in November 2024.
