Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari, together with State Police Director General Skënder Hita, inspected security measures in Himarë to assess preparations for the summer tourist season.

During a meeting with Himarë Mayor Vangjel Tavo, Lamallari stressed that ensuring the safety of both citizens and tourists remains a top priority, praising the cooperation between the State Police and local authorities.

The minister announced that over the past four months, police have responded to 67 incidents involving tourists, rescuing more than 200 visitors. He also said that maritime inspections have been intensified, with 4,220 vessels inspected—21% more than during the same period last year—and 166 violations posing risks to holidaymakers’ safety identified and sanctioned.

State Police Director General Skënder Hita added that, for the first time this tourist season, border control procedures for yachts and other vessels are being carried out directly at sea by the Border Police, making entry procedures faster and more convenient for tourists.
