TIRANA, August 12 – Defense Minister Ermal Nufi said today that operations to manage the wildfire in Lura National Park continue at high intensity. The fire affects the Runja area above Borie Lura village.
In a social media statement, Nufi said all relevant structures remain engaged in the operation. They are working in full coordination on the ground and from the air. Protecting homes and limiting the fire’s spread remain the priorities.
According to the minister, around 220 personnel are taking part in the operation. The force includes fire and rescue structures, the Armed Forces, the State Police, the Protected Areas Administration, the forestry service, municipal structures, volunteers, the National Civil Protection Agency and the Prefecture of Dibër Municipality.
Meanwhile, the operation also includes aerial support. Two Air Tractor aircraft are assisting ground forces in tackling the most difficult fire spots.
