Media Agency: 14 wildfires reported in the past 12 hours, 5 remain active

TIRANA, August 5 – Fourteen wildfire outbreaks were reported across Albania during the past 12 hours. Five fires remain active, the Media and Information Agency (MIA) said on Tuesday. Emergency crews continue firefighting operations with 182 operational personnel. They also use 19 fire engines, three Air Force helicopters and one Air Force firefighting aircraft.

Meanwhile, firefighters are working in the Mount Dajti area. They are also operating in Riban in Mallakastër, Shqiponja in Prrenjas, Vërzhezha in Skrapar and Krekëz in Himara. In addition, crews are tackling fires between Stegopull and Selcka in the municipalities of Libohova and Dropull. Ground and aerial teams removed the threat to homes in Riban. Authorities temporarily evacuated 15 families as a precaution.

The extinguished fires damaged about 1.5 hectares of grassland, shrubs and forest vegetation. However, authorities continue to assess the areas affected by the active fires. Civil protection structures continue to monitor the situation. They also coordinate firefighting operations across the country.
