TIRANA, July 17 – Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj presented the sovereign scheme “Double your business”, which aims to help Albanian companies access financing and increase investment, productivity and competitiveness in European markets.
Ibrahimaj said the initiative responds to the real needs of businesses and supports the development of a stronger economy. She added that economic indicators show growing business confidence, with the economy expanding and new enterprises increasing.
According to the minister, Albania recorded around 4% annual economic growth and registered around 25,000 new businesses last year. She said these figures show greater confidence in future growth, employment opportunities and access to new markets.
Meanwhile, Ibrahimaj said the government aims to act as a partner for businesses by improving access to finance. She explained that the program was designed with the Bank of Albania and the banking sector to address challenges such as high interest rates, collateral requirements and business size.
The minister highlighted exports as another key objective of the scheme, saying stronger exports would increase added value and support sustainable economic growth.
Ibrahimaj also noted that business lending has grown by around 15% in recent years. However, she said small and medium enterprises still receive only 26% of business loans, despite representing 99% of active companies, over 80% of employment and more than 70% of economic added value. She stressed the need to further support these businesses, especially in automation and innovation.
