Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Karakaçi and Swiss ambassador Huber sign agreement on building damage assessment

TIRANA, May 20 – Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Enea Karakaçi held a meeting with Swiss Ambassador to Albania Ruth Huber. The two sides signed the Agreement on the Building Damage Assessment Project.

The Institute of Construction implements the project with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Meanwhile, the National Civil Protection Agency (AKMC) coordinates its implementation.

The agreement aims to strengthen the national system for building damage assessment. It introduces unified technical standards and professional training, while also reinforcing institutional cooperation in emergency situations.

In addition, the project develops technical capacities and professional expertise. It focuses on improving public safety and increasing the resilience of buildings. It also targets more effective response after natural disasters.

At the same time, Karakaçi and Huber underlined the importance of cooperation between Albanian institutions and international partners. They linked this cooperation to higher construction standards and improved emergency response capacity.
