The Monastery of the Archangels in Derviçan has entered the restoration phase. The project also covers the eastern and western guest quarters of the complex.
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja shared images of the ongoing work at the important cultural and religious heritage site.
The restoration will take place in two phases. Workers will reinforce the stone walls and restore wooden elements, doors, windows and stairs.
The project will also rebuild the traditional stone-slab roofs. The works aim to prevent further deterioration and restore the complex’s functionality. They will also preserve its original design and traditional character.
The restoration gained added importance after authorities designated the monastery church as a Category I Cultural Monument. The protected area around the church also received heritage protection.
The project will help preserve an important part of Dropull’s historical, architectural and religious heritage. It will also help revive the complex for the local community and visitors.
