Muslim Community Calls for Peace and Dialogue Amid Protests in Albania

The Muslim Community of Albania has called on all sides to preserve peace, show restraint and resolve differences through dialogue amid ongoing protests across the country.

In a statement on Sunday, the community warned that tensions could threaten public safety and social cohesion. At the same time, it reaffirmed citizens’ right to express their views, protest and demand accountability.

“Preserving peace, respecting others and rejecting all forms of violence are shared responsibilities,” the statement said.

The community urged institutions to take citizens’ demands seriously. It also called on all sides to avoid inflammatory language, hate speech and actions that could deepen divisions.

Moreover, it urged leaders and citizens to consider the consequences of their words and actions. It stressed that human dignity, public safety and the country’s common good must guide every decision.

“Every disagreement, however complex, requires dialogue, mutual understanding and respect for the law and institutions,” the statement said.

The community also reminded citizens that Albania is a shared home for all. Differences in political views and beliefs, it said, must not divide society. Reaffirming its commitment to peace, harmony and coexistence, the community called for dialogue and collective responsibility to overcome tensions.

It concluded with a prayer for peace and wisdom, urging God to guide Albania’s leaders, citizens and all social actors towards dialogue and just solutions.

“May God protect Albania and its citizens and guide us all towards peace, justice and the common good. Amin!”
