Nufi in Puka’s Gojan i Madh: Wildfires Under Control

Defense Minister Ermal Nufi visited Gojan i Madh in Puka on Friday evening. He inspected the situation after wildfires affected the area.

Nufi said the situation had been difficult during the day. However, firefighting teams brought the fires under control after several hours of work. He praised the local forces for their efforts and coordination.

Lieutenant Colonel Behar Toçilla said Support Battalion and Southern Infantry Regiment forces were deployed in nearby Gojan i Vogël. The situation remained calm until noon. Strong winds then caused the fire to spread and made the situation more difficult.

Authorities requested urgent helicopter support. The helicopter arrived and played a key role in containing the fire. Toçilla said 28 troops worked near a house threatened by the flames. They stopped the fire from reaching the building.

Five firefighting vehicles and 30 military personnel were deployed to protect homes in Gojan i Madh. An Armed Forces helicopter also supported the operation from the air.

Authorities said the situation is currently under control.
