“Otello” Premieres at National Theatre with a Strong Cast

Othello will premiere soon at the National Theatre of Albania under the direction of Qëndrim Rijani.

The production brings together a well-known cast of Albanian actors, including Arben Derhemi, Viktor Zhusti, Lulzim Zeqja, Linda Jarani, Donald Shehu, Luli Bitri, Artan Imami, and others.

The play is based on Shakespeare’s tragedy, translated into Albanian by Fan Noli.

It tells the story of Othello, a respected general, who falls into jealousy and manipulation. The character Iago fuels suspicion and destroys trust between Othello and Desdemona.

Meanwhile, the production explores themes of love, power, betrayal, and human weakness. It shows how manipulation and lack of communication can lead to tragedy.

In addition, the play remains one of the most powerful works in world theatre. It continues to resonate across generations.

The premiere will take place on May 14. It will also run on May 15, 16, and 17.
