More than 5,300 children with disabilities receive support in Albanian schools, Deputy Health and Social Welfare Minister Ina Majko said as the new school year begins.
Majko said support for children and their families includes dedicated services aimed at promoting inclusion in education. She highlighted assistant teachers, psychosocial services and social support among the main mechanisms supporting children in schools.
More than 70,000 children have also contributed to the National Agenda for Children’s Rights 2027–2030, helping identify priorities related to their rights and well-being, Majko said. More than 2,600 assistant teachers currently support children with disabilities in schools.
Meanwhile, more than 700 Roma and Egyptian minority children receive assistance to attend school through free transport, scholarships and other support measures. The psychosocial service has more than 800 staff supporting children and families.
In addition, 55 services operate in 39 municipalities to support children and families. Majko said these services create a support network linking families, schools and municipalities.
