Parliament Lights Up Blue for World Autism Day

On World Autism Day, celebrated every year on April 2, the Parliament building lit up blue. Blue is the international color for autism awareness.

Each year, state institutions join this global initiative. It shows their commitment to raising awareness for this social cause.

World Autism Day aims to increase public understanding of the challenges faced by people with autism. It also promotes inclusion and a better quality of life.

The United Nations General Assembly officially declared this day in 2007 through Resolution 62/139. The goal is to fight discrimination and respect the rights of people with autism worldwide. It also aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Agenda, which emphasizes leaving no one behind.

Lighting public buildings in blue has become a global symbol of solidarity. It unites countries and communities in support of people with autism and their families.

This year, the Albanian government doubled the monthly payment for 11,000 children with disabilities. It also extended social and health insurance to around 14,000 caregivers and assistants.
