Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi met EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato, Tatiana Mrazikova from the European Parliament office in Tirana, and IDEA +7 representatives.
The meeting took place at the Albanian Parliament. It focused on strengthening cooperation between Albanian institutions and the European Parliament.
Peleshi said closer EU cooperation helps speed up Albania’s integration process. He said EU programs directly improve parliamentary work and democratic standards.
The sides presented the “EU for Democracy” project. The EU funds it, and IDEA +7 implements it.
The three-year project aims to strengthen parliamentary administration. It also improves oversight mechanisms and modernizes parliamentary services.
Participants said such initiatives strengthen democratic institutions. They also support Albania’s progress toward EU standards.
