Prime Minister Edi Rama hosted a delegation from the United States Congress at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday, as part of the US delegation’s visit to Tirana.
Rama shared a photo from the meeting on social media, showing him alongside the new US Ambassador to Albania, Eric Wendt, and members of the US Congress.
“Today in the garden of the Prime Minister’s Office with the United States Congressional delegation (US CODEL),” Rama wrote in his post, accompanied by the Albanian and US flags.
The US delegation’s visit comes as newly appointed US Ambassador Eric Wendt settles into his role in Tirana, after officially taking office on September 26.
Earlier in the day, the House of Representatives delegation, led by Congressman Vern Buchanan, also met with Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi. Discussions focused on strengthening the Albania-US strategic partnership, cooperation within NATO, regional security, European integration, and expanding economic ties.
The meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office also took place on the same day that Ambassador Wendt met with SPAK officials. Discussions focused on the role of independent institutions in combating transnational crime, drug trafficking, and illegal migration, which the US side has identified as priorities for President Donald Trump.
