PM Rama: 63% of vocational graduates employed after graduation, aim for one in three students to choose this path

TIRANA, June 9 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said vocational education in Albania has undergone a major transformation in recent years. He said the sector has moved from a degraded system to an attractive option for young people.

Meanwhile, Rama spoke during an event on vocational education and training. He said 3,500 vocational students are currently taking their final exams. He described the overall results of the reform as significant and encouraging.

In addition, the prime minister said 20% of students currently choose vocational education. He said the government aims to raise this figure to one in three students in the future.

At the same time, Rama said 63% of vocational graduates find employment after completing their studies. He linked the result to reforms based on models from Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

He said the system once served as a fallback for low-performing students. He said it now represents a real career choice for young people. He added that vocational education now shows stronger links with the labour market.

Meanwhile, Rama said the strengthening of ties between vocational schools and the labour market remains a key priority. He said this focus will increase employment opportunities and better prepare young people for economic needs.
