PM Rama: Albania has entered a new phase of development

TIRANA, July 10 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Albania has entered a new phase of development, where improved standards have increased citizens’ expectations for better services and greater dignity in daily life.

During the presentation of the “Urban Renaissance 2.0” programme, Rama said society’s new demands should not be seen as dissatisfaction or lack of appreciation, but as a result of the progress achieved.

He highlighted Albania’s environmental transformation and investments in protected areas. According to Rama, the country has planted 5 million trees in protected zones, while the current challenge is to improve the quality and impact of these efforts.

Meanwhile, the prime minister also referred to changes in the healthcare system. He said that years ago patients faced major shortages, while today they expect higher-quality services, shorter waiting times and wider use of technology.

Rama also pointed to progress in drinking water supply. However, he stressed that the goal remains to provide the same standards of service across the entire country.

The prime minister said society has become more demanding and described this as a sign of development rather than negativity.

He added that the “Urban Renaissance 2.0” programme will focus on addressing remaining gaps and improving urban and public services.

According to Rama, the new initiative aims to move beyond previous achievements and respond to the higher expectations created by Albania’s development.
