Albania has closed its fourth chapter in the negotiations for accession to the European Union. During the intergovernmental conference with the EU, Prime Minister Edi Rama described this as another step forward on the path towards European integration, emphasizing that the government’s objective is to accelerate the process and close at least twice as many chapters by the end of this year.
In his speech, Rama thanked the Irish Presidency, European Commissioner Marta Kos, and the member states of the European Union for their support for Albania throughout the integration process.
The Prime Minister stressed that the closure of Chapter 20 represents recognition of the reforms undertaken by Albania, noting that this is the fourth chapter to be closed within just a few months.
“Today, Albania has taken another step towards its place in the European Union. The closure of Chapter 20 is a recognition of the reforms undertaken by Albania. This is now the fourth chapter we have closed in just a few months. We want to at least double that number. So let’s shake this house, let’s make it happen,” Rama said.
