PM Rama announces fixed prices for over 200 products until January 2027

Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced an agreement with five major food retailers to keep prices unchanged on more than 200 products until January 12, 2027. The agreement forms part of Albania’s Price Comparison platform and the “KURSE” (Save on Shopping) initiative.

Rama said the initiative aims to protect consumers as rising costs put pressure on household budgets. He urged businesses to look beyond daily profits and help ease that burden.

Meanwhile, the government aims to expand the list to 1,000 products by the end of 2026. Rama also called on smaller retailers and local shops to join the initiative, extending its benefits to more consumers.

He warned that retailers who engage in illegal price speculation face fines under existing legislation. The government hopes continued cooperation with businesses will strengthen market transparency and give households more opportunities to find essential goods at stable prices.

The Price Comparison platform also allows consumers to compare prices across sales outlets and identify lower-cost options.
