TIRANA, August 13 – Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on reactions in Tirana and Prishtina to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement in Belgrade. Zelensky said Ukraine had not changed its position and would not recognise Kosova.
Rama said freedom is not a matter of exchange. He stressed that supporting Ukraine against aggression does not depend on political expectations from its government.
Meanwhile, Rama said Ukraine is wrong about Kosova, however, he said its right to freedom remains unquestionable. He added that defending this right also means defending Europe and Albania’s own interests.
Rama said Albania can maintain both positions. He also rejected calls to withdraw support for Ukraine because of its position on Kosovo.
The Prime Minister said Albania should stand by freedom, democracy and peace. He concluded by reaffirming his support for a free Ukraine.
