PM Rama joins leaders’ meetings in Yerevan, appears in family photo and holds talks on security and economic connectivity summit

TIRANA, May 4 – Prime Minister Edi Rama is attending the 8th European Political Community Summit in Yerevan, Armenia. He shared a family photo with the participating leaders.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan welcomed Rama and the Albanian delegation. This reception marked the start of the summit activities.

The summit brings together 48 heads of state and government from across the continent. It takes place under the motto “Building the Future: Unity and Stability in Europe.” Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney attends as a guest. This marks the first participation of a non-European country.

At the same time, discussions focus on strengthening cooperation among European countries. Leaders also address democratic resilience, economic coordination, and energy security.

European Council President António Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan co-chair the summit.
In addition, Prime Minister Rama attends the second informal meeting of the European Coalition Against Drugs (ECAD). French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni co-chair the meeting.

The session focuses on strengthening the fight against drug trafficking. It covers maritime routes and port trafficking. It also addresses illegal financial flows, money laundering, and corruption. Leaders also discuss synthetic drug challenges in Europe.

Furthermore, the agenda includes a comprehensive approach. It covers prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery measures.
Later, Rama joins a roundtable session with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo. The discussion focuses on strengthening connectivity and economic security during the green transition.

Participants review measures to improve energy and digital connectivity. They also address supply chain security and reduced dependency in the energy transition context.

Albania’s participation confirms its commitment to active engagement in European strategic discussions. It also highlights its contribution to a more stable, secure, and united Europe.
