PM Rama: New political season should focus on citizens’ concerns

TIRANA, August 25 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said the new political season should bring stronger engagement with citizens and greater attention to their concerns. He spoke during a 2-day meeting in Pogradec with government ministers and Socialist Party political leaders from across Albania.

Rama said the meeting focused on the strategic platform “Besa”, the “Loyal Presence” document and “Albania Dashboard”. He described the discussions as part of preparations for further steps towards “Albania 2030”. Meanwhile, he called on political leaders to follow citizens’ concerns in their regions and urged ministers to personally review the work of local directorates each month.

The meeting also examined how the government and the Socialist Party should respond to citizens’ concerns. Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Enea Karakaçi proposed creating a “Besa Unit” in each ministry. Education Minister Mirela Kumbaro said the initiative should identify specific people responsible for addressing concerns raised publicly. Other participants stressed the need to turn listening into decisions and measurable results.

At the same time, several ministers and Socialist lawmakers discussed ways to strengthen trust between citizens and government. They highlighted the need to understand the problems of families, businesses, professionals and pensioners. Local political leaders also stressed the importance of applying the proposed system across all 12 counties to build a clearer picture of developments on the ground.
