TIRANA, September 3 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Albania’s latest public administration survey had identified challenges in employee performance. He highlighted the lack of measures for poor performance as an important issue, alongside salaries.
At the same time, Rama praised the administration’s work during Albania’s European Union accession negotiations. He said around 1,000 public employees had performed strongly while representing Albania in Brussels during the process.
Rama recalled concerns he had raised before the negotiations opened. He said he had questioned how the Albanian administration would perform when working with European counterparts. According to him, its work later contributed to the positive assessments Albania received from France, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, Rama said the public administration includes employees who gained their positions through merit. He also acknowledged cases where appointments do not reflect professional criteria.
