TIRANA, September 4 – Tirana International Airport handled 6 million passengers in the first six months of 2026. Prime Minister Edi Rama said the figure puts the airport ahead of others in the region.
According to Rama, passenger traffic increased by 17% compared with the same period in 2025. He linked the growth to more flights and destinations, as well as the continued rise in the number of tourists visiting Albania.
The airport also recorded strong traffic during the summer season. On August 17, it registered a daily record of 60,291 passengers and 326 aircraft movements. Meanwhile, August alone brought 1.717 million passengers through the airport.
The figures reflect the expansion of Albania’s air connections with international markets. They also point to continued demand for Albania as a tourist destination.
