TIRANA, May 15 – Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence in Estonia during his official trip with the Albanian delegation. He met the centre’s leadership and learned about its role in strengthening NATO cyber defence.

Meanwhile, Rama said in a social media post that Albania became a member of the cyber defence excellence centre on Wednesday. He described it as one of NATO’s key structures for cyber security and protection against digital threats.

In addition, he said the centre operates as a cooperation platform among NATO allies. He said it supports the development of strategies, training and cyber defence capabilities.

Albania joined the centre during a flag-raising ceremony in Tallinn. Finland and Sweden joined at the same time. The move brought the total number of members and partners to 39.

As a result, the development strengthens Albania’s cyber security capacity. It also deepens cooperation with NATO allies and partners. It increases engagement in addressing digital threats.

The centre was established in 2008 and accredited by NATO. It focuses on research, strategic analysis, training and best practices in cyber defence. It also organises Locked Shields, one of the world’s largest cyber defence exercises.
