Port of Durrës handles 10 cargo vessels at start of week

TIRANA, May 5 – The start of the week has brought high operational activity at the Port of Durrës. The port has scheduled 10 cargo vessels for handling, mainly carrying raw materials for the construction sector.

According to the Port Authority of Durrës, six vessels are currently under processing. Two ships carry around 5,050 tons of glass. Three vessels transport about 6,650 tons of cement. One vessel carries nearly 4,950 tons of melamine. These shipments directly supply the construction industry and worksites across the country, supporting infrastructure projects and urban development activities.

In addition, the Port Authority said the high processing rate reflects stable demand for construction materials. It also highlights the efficient functioning of the logistics chain from vessel arrival to distribution in the domestic market.

Meanwhile, the Port of Durrës remains the country’s main maritime transport hub. It continues to play a key role in supporting Albania’s economic and trade activity.
