President Begaj on 5 May: Martyrs’ sacrifice guides Albania’s European future

TIRANA, May 5 – On the occasion of 5 May, the Day of the Martyrs, President Bajram Begaj held homage at the National Martyrs’ Cemetery. He laid a wreath at the symbolic monument “Mother Albania”.

At the same time, he shared a message on social media in remembrance of the fallen. He said the martyrs gave their lives for freedom and peace in Albania. He described them as idealists who fulfilled a shared national dream through sacrifice.

In addition, Begaj said the sacrifice of the martyrs should guide future generations. He said it should serve as a moral reference for protecting universal values of peace and justice. He added that democracy depends on these principles.

Meanwhile, the President called for unity and national commitment. He linked the martyrs’ legacy with Albania’s path toward the European Union. He said this process continues their example of placing the country above all else.

Finally, Begaj said the martyrs’ patriotism and selfless dedication should inspire stronger commitment to Albania’s development. He said the country must move forward toward European integration with courage and responsibility. He closed the message with tribute to the martyrs of the nation.
