Prishtina 2030 Faces Pressure as Time Runs Out for Mediterranean Games

Kosovo faces growing pressure to complete preparations for the Mediterranean Games “Prishtina 2030”.

The event represents one of the country’s biggest sports projects. However, delays in building sports infrastructure have raised concerns among sports leaders.

Kosovo Olympic Committee President Ismet Krasniqi warned about the consequences of a possible failure.

He described the failure to organise the Games as a major setback for Kosovo’s sport and international reputation.

Krasniqi said Kosovo must work intensively to avoid this scenario. He added that hosting the Mediterranean Games has already encouraged many sports federations to organise international events in the country.

Meanwhile, Kosovo Basketball Federation President Arben Fetahu said the entire sports community shares concerns about the preparations. However, he expressed confidence that strong institutional support can ensure the project’s success.

Kosovo Handball Federation President Edi Kolgeci also called for immediate action. He said the country must prove that it is ready to host this major sporting event.

The Kosovo Olympic Committee, sports federations and state institutions stressed that the Games represent more than an organisational challenge.

They see “Prishtina 2030” as a historic opportunity to improve sports infrastructure, develop local sport and strengthen Kosovo’s position internationally.

In the coming months, cooperation between all stakeholders will be crucial. The successful organisation of the Games will shape Kosovo’s image among the global sports community and influence future opportunities to host major international events.
