Public Safety Local Council in Elbasan discusses measures against online misinformation and digital violence

TIRANA, July 31 – Online misinformation and digital violence against children were the focus of the latest meeting of the Public Safety Local Council in Elbasan.

Local institutions and partners discussed measures under the School Safety Package 2026-2027. They also presented the “Raporto Tani” (Report Now) application, which aims to support early reporting and intervention in problematic cases.

Elbasan Mayor Gledian Llatja said protecting children and young people remains a key priority for the municipality. He noted that around 16,000 students attend 57 schools across the municipality.

Meanwhile, Llatja said online misinformation and digital violence affect families, schools and the wider community. He added that stronger cooperation between institutions and greater awareness among young people can help prevent online threats, scams and abuse.

The mayor stressed that Elbasan focuses on building a safer community through coordination between institutions and investment in education.

The “Raporto Tani” (Report Now) application is part of efforts to improve reporting mechanisms and provide faster responses to cases affecting children and young people.
