Prime Minister Edi Rama said Albania is taking on a strategic role in Europe’s energy security.
He made the remarks during an interview at the Future Investment Initiative Europe 2026 summit.
Speaking about Europe’s future, Rama stressed that the continent needs stronger political unity. According to him, Europe must improve its decision-making system and act with greater determination if it wants to strengthen its global role.
Meanwhile, Rama highlighted the strong relationship between Albania and Italy. He said the two countries are experiencing one of the best periods in their bilateral ties and are working to deepen strategic cooperation.
Furthermore, he pointed to an ambitious joint project involving Albania, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates. The initiative aims to produce and deliver more clean energy to Europe.
Rama described the project as highly strategic for all three partners and for Europe as a whole.
In addition, he noted that recent tensions in the Middle East have underlined the importance of energy security and its connection to geopolitics.
As a result, Albania and its partners are seeking new opportunities that serve their common interests and strengthen regional cooperation.
Ultimately, Rama said the project could play an important role in supporting Europe’s clean energy goals and long-term energy security.
