Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced the creation of a National Council for children with disabilities, aimed at introducing a new approach to relations between institutions, children and their families.
The announcement was made during the “Flasim” podcast, where part of the discussion focused on support for children on the autism spectrum and the role of assistant teachers in the education system.
During the conversation, which also featured a mother and her son with disabilities, Rama said the aim is to involve parents more directly in shaping policies and support measures.
According to the Prime Minister, the National Council will include representatives of institutions, parents and teachers. Its work is expected to serve as a basis for further guidance and recommendations regarding policies and support for children with disabilities.
“An effort to enter a new phase in the relationship between institutions and these children and their parents, by engaging parents who are at the forefront of this effort,” Rama said.
He added that the aim is to continue this work through the Council by providing guidance and recommendations.
